HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE!

We went to my brother-in-law's house to celebrate the Christmas as we did last year because it has now become a 'tradition' in our family. They celebrate thanksgiving with us and we all go and celebrate the new year with another Nigerian family friend.

How did this tradition come about? I seriously don't know! It just happened my sister-in-law came to help me bake my first thanksgiving turkey since I didn't know how to do it and we celebrated together, the next thanksgiving, I did it myself and invited them over to come and see it ... then I began inviting them with our mutual friends. They in turn invited us for Christmas when hubby told me I should not stress myself cooking when I was heavily pregnant for my son who is 3 years old today, so, they invited us over,  then we went again, and again ... our mutual friend celebrates her eldest son's birthday during new year, so we all go there ... now, it became a tradition! You see how certain traditions came about? And next generations will now hold strongly to it, likely adding their own and say, that is how our 'fathers' did it in the olden days ...  as some Nigerian cultures came about!

ogbono soup

jollof rice

We all chip in to make it less stressful for the hostess. Our mutual friend brings pepper soup, I prepare ogbono soup while my sister-in-law prepares jollof rice and pounded yam, and small chops. These are aspects we are each good at, which I believe life should really be about; Maximizing our good aspects to complement each other, be it in our homes or work places, and letting go of our flaws.

New year is 4 days away, and we shall all cross over by HIS GRACE and MERCY through CHRIST our SAVIOUR.  This should be a moment of sober reflection by looking into the mirror and seeing who we really are and improving on ourselves.
Take care everyone and see you all in 2017.

SLEEP APNEA.

HA! First time to have a weekend off after 10 months! Instead of me to be catching up with all the sleep I missed during the week, I was tidying up the house! I have finished, watching Tv and my eyes fell on my laptop......
SO! I want to talk about sleep apnea! The first time I heard these words were the early months when I started working overnight and a Nigerian guy advised me not to do it for so long, because it has it effects! This guy suffered from Sleep Apnea, not related to working overnight o, he just mentioned it.

He worked overnight for a long while before doing day job. It all started with the heavy snoring, that made his wife to either sleep in the parlour or use earplugs! And the gibberish he said when sleeping! Then he began falling asleep on the wheel during the day, that he would park in a gas station and nap for 10mins or more to clear his head. His wife began praying fervently, because they believed their village people were on his matter!

It was not until he gave a ride to his wife's friend, that they came to know what his problem was! The friend told his wife that his heavy breathing sounded like that of her cousin's who was later diagnosed to have sleep apnea, that he needed to go and see a specialist. His wife opened up to her, and his friend said her cousin flat-lined twice before they knew it was very serious! He went to see a specialist, after sleeping 2 days in the clinic under observation, he had narrow nasal passage and his sleep Apnea was severe!. A minor surgery was carried out to correct the nasal passage and the gadget was ordered for him to be sleeping with, everyday! He said, 'I slept like a baby, the first day, I used the mask, and woke up without a headache!' He does not snore heavily again or talk gibberish! But it did not come cheap! Medical ain't cheap here, bruhh!

It became a topic of discussion and we realized, this is probably what some people are suffering from, back home and we point accusing fingers ..... Many religious people will say,' NOT MY PORTION!' But the truth my fellow Nigerians, is that, not everything is spiritual! And atimes, it is good to talk about your pressing problem, because you don't really know who has the right info to give out. And never wave aside anybody as inconsequential! One word or one direction can save a life!

Have a blessed Sunday, y'all.
P.s Christmas very close now...beautiful decorations everywhere. I might stop and take pictures one night on my way to work.
P.s.s..Lemme go and bake a cake then.

MY COLLECTIVE THOUGHTS.

December has rolled in like play, like joke!
HAPPY NEW MONTH OOO!
Here are thoughts that would have made different posts throughout the year, but...

I read a lot of quotes on  fb, like 'Nobody wants to see you progress, except your parents.' I was tempted to tell the poster including you! Apart from your parents, you also fall into the group of NOBODY! And some so-called inspirational stories are so unrealistic! Infact, I skip such 'far-fetched stories'!

Toke's book brought in a lot of reviews. My own candid opinion on it, is that, everybody have their own story to tell, so if she chooses to tell hers, please let her be! What goes on behind closed doors in many relationships is like her story if not worst sef! Yet, she is being called names! WOMEN! I fear and hail us o!

A 3 year old boy was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend because he soiled his pants! I wept reading the news. Men cannot tolerate children from other men, especially boys, but expect women to love and care for his own children from their numerous baby mamas! This is one of the reasons, some families don't encourage women to divorce their husbands or be having children for different men!

How wicked can someone be to poison a fellow co-worker's food that was kept in the fridge? I now understand why some of my co-workers leave their lunch bags in their cars! Why some will throw away coffee in the pot and make a fresh one! I read how a male teacher was peeing into the coffee pot of his fellow teachers because he disliked them! Why some go out o buy snacks! I will be leaving my lunch bag in my car now o!

My co-worker dislike me ehen! Why? I dunno! I asked him if I had offended him in any way? He said, No! Then wetin I DO YOU? Na him body go pepper and bite am tire! I was trained to take over the position of his partner that asked to be transferred to another branch. This guy was sabotaging my work! When I found out, I requested to be taken off that particular task! I no fit shout abeg! Another guy is being trained to assist him.

Is it by force to help someone break 'egusi'?{gossip} A co-worker brought 'egusi' for me to break, I stylishly dodged it! She has a grudge against a co-worker, since, I have a good rapport with my ogas at the top, she wanted me to snitch. WHOSAI! Instead I shifted her 'load' to her fellow parapo person. This worker said, she was the one that told her in the first place sef! OTURUGBEKE!  You see as these people want to rope me into their web of wahala? She come dey carry face for me. This time, I know why someone is keeping malice with me.  Infact, she recruited her friend to join, by the time I boned both of them wella, her friend head come down and she tried to be cool with me again ... but that is not gonna happen ... that 'ship' don sail go sinceee! I am the only dudu in our department o. Abeg, make dem carry their 'loco-loco' vamoose!

Alright my guys, daz all. Gracias.

CAN ANYTHING GOOD COME FROM.....?

I do attend a women's bible fellowship weekly, and we studied the gospel of John. We do read ahead before the day and discuss the words that really spoke to us and ask questions on the verses we don't understand. NOBODY is the teacher, EVERYBODY is a teacher! The words that touched me most last week was 'Can anything good come from Nazareth?' John 1:46. I believe many of us Christians know the story around this verse. But for the non-Christians, it was said about Christ when John the baptist pointed Him out as the messiah and the people were surprised he came from a small poor town, which others looked down upon!  No, I am not going to preach but to share my story.

You see, we humans only believed certain group of people deserves the best of life because of their looks, financial status, jobs, pedigree, and what-ever! Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Can anything good come out of Nazareth? I am repeating the words because I want the meaning to sink in and help you understand why it touched me now, for the fact that I have been reading this particular verse for years ... it is my testimony!

I was bullied as a child because of my weight. I grew a thick skin over the years and a hard shell since blogging, because many people believe being big does not give you the right to be loved, talkless of getting married or you don't have anything 'upstairs'! I have read a comment in a blog were someone said, fat girls MUST be nice ALWAYS if they want to have friends! I read many comments on the pre-wedding photo that went viral some months back about the size of a bride. And I was like, if physical appearance alone was the criteria for marriage, many women would still be in their fathers' house and some of the people cussing her out, won't probably have been born, because no man would have wed their own mothers!

SO! I got married, and the tongues were wagging. My hubby is tall, slim, fair, and good looking,, so he could have gotten any lady he wanted, but, he went for a short, fat, dark, plain looking girl! 'What do you see in her?' they asked him. For those who read my old blog, I have shared how we met. Well, let me refresh your memories. We were in the same P.G.D management class. We had a test in accounting, while I was busy reading alone at my desk, he was looking at me wondering why I was not up and about like other females in the class looking for who will teach them. So, he came to my desk, and asked me to please explain few topics to him because he missed few lectures. So I did and he was impressed, especially as he passed well. We decided to form a reading group with another lady. He asked me out, I refused. He was on my case for 8 months, before I gave in. Someone told me to my face that I was lucky my husband married me! I heard a gossip that, no man will marry me because I am big!

What did he see in me? ; My 'average 1.Q' my sense of humour, my honesty, my loyalty, my endurance, my prudence, my humbleness, my commitment'  my neatness, and my hard-working attitude.  He also saw my quick temper, my stubbornness, my quick to forgive slow to forget attitude, my low ambitious drive, my average cooking skills'. And we have been together for 17 years ... married for 15, and he told me he is blessed to have a wife like me! Hmmm ... can anything good come out of Nazareth?

I was not working! OH! The insults came pouring in from every angle, that few pierced my thick skin and hard shell. that  some nights my pillow was soaked with tears ... I was depressed, which I commented in a blog and made a wonderful friend from there. I had little or no respect from neighbours, families, friends and bloggers! Then 2012, a door was opened for me by a mighty gracious hand. Again, the disbelief from them, because they never believed a 'low class' (according to a commenter because my hubby didn't assist me in doing chores in Nigeria) housewife can get a permanent resident visa!  Hmmm ... can anything good come out of Nazareth?

To  my wonderful friend Patrina.

YES! YES! AND YES! GOOD THINGS CAN COME OUT OF NAZARETH! WHY? BECAUSE THE CREATOR OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH SAID,' I WILL SHOW MERCY ON WHOM I CHOOSE TO, AND THE RACE IS NOT FOR THE SWIFT OR THE STRONG BUT TO WHOM I POUR MY GRACE UPON!'

Today,  I am working! Hubby helps with chores and shopping and I still weigh 258.4 pounds. {117.2kg) with my plain looks.

My body, soul and spirit, magnify thy O'LORD!
My heart is filled with praises to You, my CREATOR!
I lift up my hands in gratitude to You, my KING!
I thank thee for ALL You have done in my life, my DEFENDER!
From the depth of my being, I say THANK YOU SO MUCH, PAPA!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING AMERICA!

WHAT IF THERE WERE NO TRADITIONS?

I went to visit my neighbour who just had a baby and they were curious to know how Nigerians welcome a new baby. Trust me, I didn't disappoint at all! I regaled them with tales from my home land, which I later found out some were  myths . The husband then told me, he asked his wife why she always cuts off both ends of the ham before cooking it? She replied that, it was a tradition in their home. When they met her grandmother at a family event, he asked her the reason behind the tradition because it was not practiced in his family and many other families he knew. Guess what the grandmother said?..... 'Oh! My crock pot was a bit small for the big ham my husband always brought home, so I cut off the edges for it to fit into the crock pot'. His wife was surprised! Since then, his wife does not cut it off again. I can use her reply to analyze 2 different scenarios, but let me leave that for another day.

This made me remember  a piece of Chimamanda's speech where she said, Men were not created for culture but culture were created by men. Culture or tradition is to help have an organized community. It is like when Jesus told his disciples that men were not created for Sabbath, but Sabbath was created for men! Since culture was created for us, it is subject to change because the world is evolving and change is the only constant thing in life!

See ehen, there are some culture or tradition or norms or practices in our families, marriage, church, tribe and society as a whole which needs to be discarded asap! Some decisions were based on ulterior motives! And, we are quick to jump on the bandwagon without knowing the reason behind the driver's choice of destination! I remember my mum never allowed us to drink the water from a coconut because 'they say' that it will not make a child intelligent. As silly as this sound right now, we always threw it away! One day, we revolted! We drank it and continued drinking it! We concluded that the old men in the village simply loved the sweet water in the coconut, so to prevent the younger ones drinking it when prying the coconut open, they came up with such tradition! AHAHAHHA!

SO! I am wondering what if there were no traditions, how would it have been?

SO LONG A POST!

My dearest children,

The time has come for me to speak candidly about Christianity because you are all becoming teenagers, and I want you all to be aware of what is happening in the Christian world so as not to become preys for wolves in sheep clothings!

First, let me explain a bit about my christian journey; I found Christ at the age of 17. I was naive, took many wrong paths, had doubts and was afraid to ask certain questions not to be seen as faithless. I DON'T WANT YOU KIDS TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AS I DID! So, I will speak on each topic based on my experience and others I have read and heard about.

CHURCH DENOMINATION;
There is NO church in heaven! So, do NOT be bothered with church doctrines! The BIBLE is the ONLY doctrine you should believe in! They claim the church doctrines is based on the bible .... I hear! We humans can interpret a verse in the bible to suit our thinking! Everything about church is man-made! And as I have told you countless times, anything about man-made is NOT perfect! MAN is a selfish being! Please, don't be swayed with words like 'my church is better than his'  'my pastor is more powerful than hers' .... all bullocks! CHRIST remains the ALL-POWERFUL! And you my dear children, are also powerful because we are all gods and goddess since we are GOD'S children.

PRAYERS:
I was in the prayer band in school. I was taught how to pray loud and long! This I began to question, because I don't shout at my own biological father when asking him for something. I later learnt how to pray quietly as if I was having a conversation. Do you kids shout at me when you ask me of something? Of course not! Rather, I shout when I am angry with you all! This you do to power darkness when rebuking them because you have authority over them and you are not joking with them! How long you pray and when you pray all depends on your lifestyle, and relationship with GOD. Please, don't let anyone tell you, you must pray at certain hours for so-long a time, because GOD is omni-present, omni-science and omni-potent. HE DOES NOT WORK WITH HUMAN TIMING!  HE listens to the whisper of our hearts more than the sounds of our voice.

I remember a church member was talking how he prayed for 2 hours. OH MINE! I felt I was not praying enough because I am done within 30 minutes. So I decided to do like him, because I believed then, the longer I prayed to GOD, my prayers will be answered immediately! So, I timed myself; 30mins for bible reading, 30 minutes for praise, 30 minutes for worship and 30 minutes for prayers. I did it for few days, and got tired of it because it was just a routine, lip and eye service! It was just not me ... it felt empty! My kids, it is not how long you pray that matters, but the sincerity in your worship and prayers! And WHY WILL YOU BE WATCHING THE TIME WHEN HAVING A TALK WITH YOUR FATHER? Before you speak, HE already knows what you want to say, so STOP beating around the bush in order to buy time, simply say what you want to HIM! HE does NOT like words repetition! If your request is motivated for selfish reasons, HE will NOT grant it!

HOLY SPIRIT;
'OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND BEGIN TO PRAY IN TONGUES!' You will hear these words commonly said in Pentecostal churches. I was taught that speaking in tongues is a sign of being a true born again and believer. So, we do everything possible to achieve that, and blast it out during prayers . HUMPH! It was so important to speak in tongues that people came for prayers for it and we told them to open their mouths and speak it in faith whatever words came into their mind. How, I prayed hard for it and when I did speak in tongues, I was on a roller coaster! I believed I was now on a higher ground!

My dears, the prince of darkness, counterfeits everything our king has created! Speaking in tongues is one of them! It is a different language you don't understand but another person could and would interpret it. The disciples spoke in Galilean and they were Nazarenes. Speaking in tongues is to EDIFY YOU! IT IS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND NOT FOR THE CHURCH! And there are many gifts from the Holy Spirit, which includes kindness, goodness, faithfulness, love, joy, gentleness and self-control. Can you say, all Christians have these? So, do not let any spirit-filled-so-called christian come to cajole you to speak in tongues he probably learnt by himself or under the influence of the kundalini spirit!  Pray in whatever language you know, GOD understands all. A confessed agent of darkness said, she was cursing GOD and the congregation whenever they were asked to pray in tongues, hence, she advised pastors to stop encouraging it inside the church. PLEASE, DON'T SAY AMEN TO ANY PRAYER YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE!

MIRACLES AND VISIONS AND PROPHECIES:
HA! These are what most pastors use in luring people to their churches. Because of poverty and trials that people go through daily in their lives, they seek for solution desperately. And these wolves in sheep clothings capitalize on the situation! DON'T GO CHASING AFTER MIRACLES, VISIONS AND PROPHECIES! Many are staged-managed! Some use the powers gotten from fallen angels. Some mediums have put on the garment of Christianity since many people don't come to them anymore and there is more money to made from having a church.

Pleaseee, don't run after miracles or visions or prophecies! Nothing comes free from them! They either exploit the person for sex or money! It is a miracle to be alive! GOD speaks to us daily from the bible! No challenges man has not undergone that is new on earth! You can overcome with constant prayers, fasting, reading the bible and living a sinless life. But, there are some battles one cannot fight alone, the person will need help with deliverance, this is where you go searching for a true bible believing church, which is like finding a pin in a haystack! And when you do, still be alert and listen to your inner thoughts, don't accept everything being said because humans are not above errors! BUT REMEMBER, GOD SAID, THE BATTLE IS MINE AND NOT YOURS! So, run and cry unto him when challenges come across your path, and HE is just and faithful to carry you through.

MONEY:
This word has caused a lot of atrocities in the world ... including the church! It has been used as a manipulative tool to control and destroy people! Money answereth everything according to Ecclesiasties,  but the LOVE of money is the root of evil according to Timothy. And we all want money don't we? We have needs to satisfy, don't we? But some love it more than others! Some have extravagant needs more than others! And they will do ANYTHING to get this money, to live the lifestyle they desired for! And the church is one of the avenues to make this money! How? Through Tithes and offerings!

What I am going to tell you my children is a very sensitive and controversial issue that brings people at logger heads! Why? Because it involves people source of livelihood! Some preachers don't work to earn income, so where do you expect them to get money to feed, cloth, pay bills, and take care of their wife, kids and extended families? Thus, Malachi is their favourite book. They claim to be like the Levities that GOD chose from the 12 tribes of Israel not to work, but do HIS work 24/7, hence, he gave them no lands. My question to these pastors is, WHO CHOSE YOU? War had wiped off most records, that the children of Israel DO NOT know who are the true Levities anymore, hence, EVERYBODY work to earn a living in this era!

DON'T BE DECIEVED MY CHILDREN! YOU CAN NEVER BRIBE GOD WITH YOUR TITHES OR OFFERINGS! If you decide to pay your tithe and give offerings, know that you are just helping to maintain the church and pastor! NO! GOD is not a money doubler that will make you more richer or prosperous than your neighbour who is not a tither! How I so DISLIKE that word! Whosoever coined that word really know how to play with the human mind to massage their ego ... I am a tither! I am a giver! Some Christians believe trouble only visits those who do not pay tithes! Because Malachi said, GOD will rebuke the devourer for thysake! The brain-washing is on another level! Yet! James said, count it all Joy when trials comes your way, it is to strengthen your faith and endurance! I gave my tithes to needy, paid my offerings in the church, and I AM A TESTIMONY TO THE BLESSINGS OF GOD! Tithes are meant for the widows, fatherless, orphans, hungry and poor!

Any pastor that asks you to bring your first month salary of the year, to sow a seed of prosperity or what-ever- they come up with, please, pick up your shoes and run very fast out of that place! BY THY FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM! It means the so-called pastor does NOT care how you will pay your bills and feed your family! Can you compare tubers of yams with a monthly income? During harvest time, many crops are harvested gradually, so after the FIRST FRUITS, the plants will produce more. Abi you dey take yam pay rent or children school fees? January for that matter, after the festive period?

PASTORS:
How do you know who is a pastor? Is it because he can quote the scriptures effortlessly? Or graduated from pastoral school? Or very eloquent with words? Or has good looks and charisma to win people over? Or perform miracles? Or sees visions? Or give prophecies? Or simply because he or she called himself so? WHO IS A PASTOR? The answer to this question is YOU AND I, AND EVERY OTHER PERSON THAT BELIEVES IN GOD! Why? Simply because JESUS CHRIST HAS BOUGHT US INTO THE PRIESTHOOD WITH HIS BLOOD, HE SACRIFICED ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY!

Have a nice day while I eagerly listen to the election results.

SURVIVAL JOBS.

My father told me a story when I was about 10 years old of a son who asked his dad what type of job he does and where he worked because he always saw him looking spiffy in a suit. So, one fine morning, on a school holiday, his dad took him along. They walked into a beautiful edifice with everyone looking good, dressed in suits, he felt so proud of his dad. His father told him to wait in the hall way as he opened a small closet, pulled off his suit, wore an overall and boots! He was still wondering why his dad was changing his outfit, when his dad beckoned to him to follow. They entered an elevator that took them down, instead of up! They got out in a dark passage that had a foul smell! His father opened another closet and brought out long brooms and brushes, it was then he realized he was in the sewer and his father sweeps the city's shit!

The father saw the disbelieve on his face! He was expecting it, and grinned widely! SON! He called out, this is what I do for a living! 'Why do you put on suit , when you are a cleaner, dad?' He asked. 'It is because I do a JOB like everyone else and get PAID for it! And how I want to present my job, depends on me. 'Do the food on the table stink of shit? Or the clothes on our back stinks? Or the pocket money I give you smell? Or the roof over our heads stinks?' 'No', his son replied quietly, still in shock. 'So, son, a JOB is a JOB, as long as you get paid and can foot your bills!
source

4 months ago, I spoke with a former neighbour of mine back home who came to Yankee. When he told me the job he was doing, I asked, 'oga, so you fit do this type of job?' It was because I was very impressed! 'Why not, my sistah?' Na who never see life go dey do yanga, na who no know what it means to work for every kobo dey spend, will refuse a job. As long as you get paid, do it, money is money!' We laughed. This is a man that built a company from scratch and is an employer of labour! He left his company for his wife and children to be running while he came here to prepare for their relocation.

All jobs have professional names, to new immigrants seeking for a job, it is advisable to google out what the job entails before applying and accepting. Some diasporas are surprised when they get there and find it is the same menial jobs that are in Nigeria but well packaged. This is because there is dignity in labour! As long as you pay your tax and bills, what is the biggie? It is we NIGERIANS that start to discriminate or look down or castigate each other! That is why SOME DIASPORAS WILL NOT TELL YOU THEIR JOBS UNLESS THE POPULAR ONES!

A Nigerian guy was overheard telling his mother that he was working in an oil company. True, but as a fuel attendant as we say back home. Why? Because he does not want to be abused later, as I do see in comments and heard as I grew up ... na dead body dem dey bath ... na plate dem they wash ... na shit dem dey pack ... na gutter dem dey clear ... na road dem dey sweep .... na nanny dem dey do! Yet! These set of people will still open their hands to collect dollars oo ...

I like the way Americans think, they are not ashamed to tell anyone what job they do. The mechanic that repairs our cars, is so good at his job that there is a high demand for him and he will come to your house or anywhere you want, to fix it, and he is affordable. A young huge good looking guy, who takes pride in his job! In Nigeria, mechanics are looked down upon! He is just a common mechanic o, if he makes the mistake of offending anyone!

Survival job just as the words says, means, to survive on a job, it ought to be temporary ... but bills don't wait for anyone, as you improve yourself  educationally and  gathering the American work experience, one will be trying to break into his/her field of study. Some succeed, and some don't! Again, it is no issue! As long as you can meet your needs and not go cap in hands to peoples' homes, you are good! And like I have always said, prudence is the key. Some earn so much, but after their tax and bills, they will have the same cash in their bank account as one earning much less.

Have a nice day everyone.

YOU THESE NIGERIAN DIASPORAS SEF!

Good morning everyone! It is 3.23am, wide awake, and what a good time to blog as the house is very quiet and my baby is not climbing all over me. I was gisting yesterday with a friend , I just have to share what she said because I  wondered if I will ever get tired of talking about the wrong impression my fellow brother and sisters back home have about living abroad.

A woman called few weeks back from Nigeria to say, she wanted to stay with her friend for 2 months, and work for that short period because she heard, she can get a job for $20/hour and she intends to get 3 jobs! She will use the money to buy items back home for sales, and while coming abroad, she will bring plenty Nigerian food for sale. Her friend told her first, she cannot stay with her for 2 months, secondly, there are many African shops, and thirdly, where was she going to see 3 jobs within 2 months? More-over, for $20/hour?

I really want to laugh, but this is a serious matter! My guys, this is 2016, and I believed most Nigerians have access to internet and have any information they need. 3 jobs? Yes! Some do it, but not within 2 months and how they do it, I don't know, because there is 24 hours in a day, most I see is 2 jobs ... work in the morning and night, or weekdays and weekends. I know a co-worker who is doing 3 jobs, he is always sleeping every little break he gets and have heavy bags under his eyes, walking sluggishly, because he is always tired.

$20/hour? For an immigrant doing survival job? Talkless for one with a visiting visa without work permit? Of course! Many diasporas earn more than that but NOT on survival jobs! And what are survival jobs? Simply put, non-professional jobs or menial jobs to put food on the table and pay bills until one can break into the corporate market or get their desired job! Hence, some do 2 jobs, at the end of the day, they total between $20-$30/hour, but, remember, the higher your income, the higher your tax, and during tax returns, if you don't have dependents or much expenses, you will pay the government back!

How do this wrong information get out there in this era of knowledge that is being shared everyday on different platforms? Is it possible some diasporas exaggerate or lie to impress or intimidate or oppress people back home? OR  Those who come visiting, see vacancy adverts for certain jobs and assumed it is same for every job and when they go back home, they tell friends when narrating their holiday experience? PLEASE, I REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW THIS WRONG INFORMATION STILL GETS SPREAD OUT IN 2016? SO IT CAN BE ADDRESSED!

This wrong mentality need to be changed ASAP! That was how another friend asked to be housed for 2 months by her former hostess, so she can work, the request was declined! Another wanted his friend to accommodate him for 2 weeks holiday, the friend refused! A man asked a friend to host a pregnant lady who came to give birth, out-rightly, the diaspora said NO! The man was surprised and angrily said, YOU DIASPORAS SEF! OH! Just last week, 2 siblings had a major fall out when the younger sibling invited  a pregnant woman from Nigeria  without his elder brother's consent, to come and stay in a house where he does NOT pay rent or any bill! He relocated barely a year ago, he still has that entitlement mentality, since, his brother made everything comfortable for him, so he did not know the challenges immigrants undergo before settling down!

Alright guys. Daz all! See you next time, and thanks for visiting always.

SHORT PEOPLE SHOULD STOP BREEDING!

Good morning everyone!

Imagine! The 3 interesting topics I have written inside my head just went, FI-AM!  ME-HNN! I need to re-negotiate my contract with my muse o. While waiting to wake up my muse, I went to check my stats out of curiosity because of what Atilola said about traffic declining after Thursday ... and nope, that is not why I am posting today ... I am cooking my all favourite ogbono soup right now, since, I was so tired to do so after church service yesterday, so I am multi-tasking! I will be off tomorrow morning, but oga want to chop iyan with ogbono this night when he comes back from work ... he don try sef, he has been eating rice for 2 weeks straight! Lemme go and turn the soup, I dey come..... I did not understand 'jack' about my stats ... I joke! Thank you all for always visiting my blog, it is very encouraging regardless of veryyyyy few comments. OH! Atilola made a good observation and valid point, but I will continue to update when I have any gist to yarn you guys. Atilola nah efiko abeg! SHIOR! NA WA, for that babe sha! I can just picture how organized her wedding will be. EKU palemo oo.{If she has chance to read this post sef, with all that preparation going on}.

The pastor yesterday said, if he was born far back in the 18th century, he would have been killed as a baby, because any form of deformity on a child was not acceptable or it was as a result of sins committed by the parents. His left hand is smaller. There was a moment of soberness when we imagined how life was then. My thoughts trailed to a comment I read few months back in an entertainment blog, where an anonymous commenter said, AS people should stop breeding! I read that comment again to make sure a human being actually typed those words! INDEED! OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF A MAN'S HEART, HE SPEAKS! And, NO! This post is not about Sickle cell anemia, before unah say, I don come again with my 'righteous anger!'

The fickleness abi shallowness of some human mind is astonishing!!! He or she is probably not the only one with such thoughts! Some people believes only certain individuals deserves the best things in life either because of their looks, complexion, education or money. In lieu of this, may I also recommend that short people should stop breeding! Ugly people should stop breeding! Fat people should stop breeding! Poor people should stop breeding! Illiterates should stop breeding! Infact, dark people should stop breeding 0 jare! So that, we can have tall, good looking, slim, fair, rich and educated people alone! And Nigeria the world  will be a better place to live happily ever after!

The human race is so consumed with aesthetics and materialism that some people suffer body image problem and depression! That some will go to any length to fit into the 'mould.' GOD'S mercy and a person's character goes a long way to make an individual what he or she becomes in life! For it is not by our power or might or what we do, nor is the race for the swift, fast, strong, beautiful, handsome, slim, fat, short, tall, rich, poor, educated, illiterate, fair or dark, but to WHOM GOD chooses to pour HIS grace upon! Amen!

SHALOM!

IT'S THE SAME!

The only constant thing is change itself! I supported the change in my father's  land regardless of who was bringing it! I have read so many negativity about the new administration, that whenever I tried to be objective and encouraging, I am told, it is because I now live abroad, that is why I am 'just talking!'

Please, ex-squeeze me! I spent my 38 years in Nigeria, I was not born with a silver spoon, nor did I marry a Danjuma! I am still very much in contact with my family back home. We discuss everything ranging from food to the recent happenings in 9ja, so I know whats-up!

Do you guys think people don't hunger in diaspora? Or there are no poor people? Or no deprivations? or beggars?  Many people are on food stamp! Organic food is expensive to buy! Only genetically modified food are very affordable, which researchers say are harmful to us! But wetin man go do? We must chop!

SO! Where am I going with this? Well, it is to tell my fellow Nigerians that even in overseas, diasporas are managing like you! See, ehen, forget all those beautiful pictures unah dey look for social platforms o, until you come to live here, you will join in counting the nickels before you purchase anything! PRUDENCE is the key! STOP frivolities! Separate your NEEDS from your wants! This is a time to set BOUNDARIES and PRIORITIES! This is not the time for 'I- just-come-visit-you'! SENTIMENTS DOES NOT PAY BILLS OR PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE! Find very simple meals to prepare! Find substitutes, like okro for draw soup instead of obognon. Cut your meat or chicken or fish into smaller bits, dem no dey chop meat belleful abeg! FOOD should be the most important thing in your home than clothes or jewelries aso-ebi or owambe!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO Y'ALL!
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

A VERY IRRITATING POST! BLAH!

SO! IT IS FRIDAY! I am gonna rock like is my BIRTHDAY! {Psquare lyrics}... I lie! I am lying on my couch resting to get ready for work tonight ... sigh! Talking of work, my co-worker didn't come to work for 3 whole days!! She came yesterday and no explanation whatsoever! She owns me none though! But we were worried about her, wondering if she was sick! The O.Y.O attitude in work places does not encourage team work. I use the bathroom twice on every shift, and wetin my eyes dey see, na wa! The other day, I nearly stepped on a drop of menstrual blood on the floor! Another day, I saw a syringe on the floor ... maybe the person is diabetic? (Nitty, don't jump into any conclusion!) The most annoying one was the 'neat freak' who laid plenty tissues on the toilet seat before use, and left it for her 'maid' to remove after use! SERIOUSLY?
see the mess someone left for another to remove before use!

Talking of 'neat freak', there is one like that , during break, she will lay sheets of paper towel on the table before placing her keys, phones , plates and her hands. I was surprised one day, as I walked into the break room, this lady had her feet propped up on the table! A PUBLIC TABLE IN A PUBLIC PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO EAT ON!!! I was so angry! Due to logistics, paper towels were not available for 4 days, and the 'neat freak' placed her items and ate like that on the table. In my mind, I was like, is the table not too dirty for you to eat and put your things, 'madame'? The housekeeper tries a lot to keep the break room neat, but some people are pigs in human form!

There were 5 co-workers that always messed up the break room, that the housekeeper warned them several times before reporting them to the manager. These guys will fling the pillows on the floor, knock their drinks over, won't put their trash in the bin, I mean, they were behaving as if they were in their houses and their 'momma' clean up after them! 4 of them eventually resigned while the 5th is now quiet as a 'mouse' and behaves himself, now the break room is cleaner without them! Still on the issue of break room, in my former place of work, the janitor did not clean the break room! He only took out the trash! I don't know the reason, but I want to assume it was because of the mess some people left behind ... I mean, WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO CLEAN AFTER YOURSELF IN A PUBLIC PLACE? Your home can be a pigsty for all I care, but in a public place, BEHAVE YOURSELF! Hmm, impossicant abi? Afterall, charity begins at home! I remember someone left a bottle of soda on the table, I came back after my days off and it was still there! Did the person travel to Jupiter? NA WHO BE YA SERVANT?!
Who knows, it could be a diabetic person huh?

See, ehen, what people don't pay for, they don't value! The mammoth waste in the break room is on another level! Our employers provides bottled water, coffee, creamer and sugar, sometimes food when we do great, and many goes into the trash! Recently, I observed that the supplies are getting reduced, it seems the new management have noticed the waste, and I don't blame them if they are trying to cut overhead costs, at least it will add to our bonus at the end of the year o jare! My former place of work no send any employee message jor! Water dem no give, talkless of coffee! Talking about my old place of work (I have been using 'talking' too much ba? Don't mind me o jare) , ever since I left, 4 people have told me nobody has been able to continue my duty wella, I took it as one of those nice things people say, until I met an assistant manager from a different department who told me same, last week. So I went to check out their rating and saw that they are at the bottom patapata! When the management was only concerned about their bonus and profit nko? They let go of a good manager because they said he was not aggressive enough to meet their target and put a lady who used her gra-gra to drive the staff (s) away.

OK! My guys, daz all. Thanks for reading. ADIOS!

P.s I fell asleep while typing, so I am posting it late.

I AM NOT HAPPY!

What do men really want? I mean, what do they want from their wives? A sexy woman? A good cook? A clean home? A faithful wife? WHAT THE H**L, DO THEY WANT??? Whenever I read the qualities men want from women, I summarized it to 3 things; 1)Sex 2) Food and  3)Neatness. Some women can have 2 out of 3, some 1, but when a woman has the whole 3, wetin the man still want for outside? Make unah helep me ask them oo?  Me, food is just average! YET! A man left his wife that has 3/3 for a woman that has 2/3! He complained his mistress is messy!

A neighbour is divorcing his wife of many years, because his mistress asked him to! The most annoying part is that he is snubbing his children because she told him not to be close to them! And lied to family and friends that his wife was the one that sent him out of the house!!! Whereas, he drove out with tires squealing after throwing his suitcases in his car and she running out to hold him. The daughter of Jezebel wants him to sell the house, take his own share to buy a house for her! But that ain't gonna happen! His wife's lawyer is fighting seriously against it! If they were Africans I will say, she don use the remote control in her villa! But they are Americans, so I just don't know what kind of spell he is under!

She wept , that my heart ached to see such a beautiful woman with a home to be proud of, hurting so much! GOSH! I wish could just get my hands on that S.O.B and shake some sense into his head! HOW CAN YOU LEAVE YOUR FAMILY FOR A CONCUBINE??? A divorcee with younger kids than his, for that matter!!! No be say nah single girl without baggages sef!  He wants to 'throw' his own kids out of the house they have grown up in, to go and live in an apartment as his stupid b**** does! I pity the mistress oo, yes, I do, because my people say, cane used to beat the first wife is hanging on the ceiling..... and what makes her think, if a man can snub kids that came out of his loins,  he will love her own kids that came out of the loins of another man? Ode oshi!

He got a big surprise when his mistress brought up the 'will you marry me? question! She wants him to hasten the divorce proceedings and marry her asap! He rejected the marriage proposal because he wants to eat his cake and still have it! He got a rude shock when she threw him out of her apartment! He has been sleeping in hotels and his car! IMAGINE! A man that has a lovely house! He has lost weight, because of the wahala he has brought upon himself! I realized that some people are just concerned about their own happiness and pleasure!

Sincerely, I am hoping there will be a reconciliation before the divorce proceedings is finalized, because she still loves him and had forgiven him several times in the past over his numerous affairs, she thought this affair that broke their marriage will pass away as usual like the others, but ...SIGH! Other men have been telling him, YOU NEVER LEAVE YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN FOR A MISTRESS! A MISTRESS SHOULD KNOW HER PLACE ... ON THE BED!!!

IT IS SO REFRESHING!

It is so refreshing!

...to see people dressed casually in their everyday clothes!
...to know there is no special chair or place for anyone!
...to listen to quiet music without deafening sounds from speakers!
...to be spared the special numbers and play-acting by people!
...to hear the soul touching words without shouting and theatrics!
...to call the shepherd by his name and not mummy or daddy!
...to know emphasis is not laid on giving!

It is refreshing to experience a different way to worship GOD without playing church!

WELCOME to September everyone!
It is the 9th month, which signifies the month of delivery for every pregnant woman,
so shall it be, everything we desired for, shall be finally given to us and every obstacles on our path shall be overcome in the mighty name of our saviour, AMEN!

THE PLAIN TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!

A Nigerian relocated to be with his brother. 3 months later he was sending money back home without his brother's knowledge. When his brother found out, he was shocked and angry because he made him looked bad in presence of their parents since he always complained how difficult it is and sends what he can afford. This caused a rift between them, and  he told his brother from henceforth he will be paying his share of  rent, utility bills and grocery.

A sister moved from 9ja to stay with her sibling. She got a job with a pay a bit higher than minimum wage and she was searching for higher wage. Her sibling discouraged her because she has no children and financial obligations, so her tax return to the government will be high, and she might not be able to pay back and be in debt to IRS! This caused a big ish between the sisters!

A family was accommodated by his elder brother. He does not pay any bill or  buy grocery. One day, there was no food at home, he took his family out to eat! This provoked the host and quarrel ensued!  He is being asked to move out as I write.

THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE AMONGST NIGERIANS! I am spilling all these because, this problem is becoming so rampant and a lady is expecting her sibling over soon. She is being advised by a friend to lay down the rules immediately she set foot in her house to avoid stories like above! And what are the rules?

1}Wash your own dishes after eating!
2}Prepare your own meal or for everybody as the case might be!
2}Don't send anybody on errand,  D.I.Y!
3}Do chores in the house without being told!
4}Immediately you start earning income, pay your share of bills!
5}After you have learnt how things are done, move out!

Harsh? Well, this is the plain truth and nothing but the truth to avoid squabbles!

Moreover, 2  families/siblings/relatives/friends cannot LIVE together in the same house in this obodo oyibo,  quarrel go shele! If it is not the bill sharing formula, it will be cooking,  grocery shopping, or chores, or cleanliness, or baby sitting the children. And it can either be the host or guest who wants to take advantage of the other!

Adios!

MIDNIGHT THOUGHTS

I didn't know when hubby came back from work sef! I just woke up past midnight, went out of my room to check our kids, hubby was sleeping on the couch in the parlour, went into the kitchen because I was hungry ... too tired to prepare anything, went back to my room, hubby woke up to sleep on the bed, he does not like to disturb me whenever he sees me sleeping on my day off, I tried to sleep back ... NO WAY!! Hungry dey wire me! I don't want to eat bread or cereal or chips ... I want solid food. I wonder what hubby ate sef? I will ask him when he wakes up. Everybody in my home, has learned to take care of themselves in the kitchen. I simply cook the stew and soup.

I was just lying down pondering if this can ever happen in 9ja? Whether I am working or not, will my husband come home from work after beating the traffic to take care of himself in the kitchen? Or I will allow such freedom in my kitchen with the harsh economy and relatives living with us? WHOSAI!!! My guys, ENVIRONMENT IS EVERYTHING!  You see my people, whenever I tell you all not to swallow hook and bait of what some married women say, many disagree with me. What works in a certain environment might not work in another! OUR ENVIRONMENT SHAPES US! A Nigerian man came visiting few weeks ago, he saw his host doing most of the grocery shopping, preparing his own meal, doing laundry, and babysitting, that he said, he can never live in America! I understood where he was coming from, because that is not the norm back home, but by the time he comes here to settle down, he will begin to adjust by force by fire without him knowing sef! Nobody go tell am how far!

I am more happier and content in my marriage unlike when I was in Nigeria! NO INTERFERENCE of any sort! It is just my husband and I! Last month was our 15th year anniversary. We still argue on issues, but get it resolved quickly. Regardless of this, it still does not give me the right to condemn or judge Nigerian wives living in Nigeria when they take certain decisions in their marriage. When I read comments in blogs especially from diasporas, I am like PUHLEASEE! If you find yourself in that same situation living in Nigeria, you might be surprised at your own decision!

OK! I am so hungry ... lemme go and make tea then ... I have lost few pounds by force by fire not because I am dieting or trying to lose weight, simply because sometimes I eat once a day... I only ate rice when I came back from work yesterday morning, before I slept off ... woke up, watched a movie and slept back ... let me go and check my weight sef... am back! 260.2 LBS! ...That is about 118kg right. HMM!

I AM IN LOVE!

The feeling of new found love is exhilarating! You can never get enough of that person, always wanting to be in his/her presence......that is how I am now with Steve Crown's ......................................................................... worship song, You are great! This song has been on replay mode in my phone and Laptop for 7 days now! Please don't judge me for loving someone else apart from my husband ..... he knows and understands, I told you he is very liberal minded. WHOSAI! Not when it comes to infidelity oo. I have a selection of my all time favourite worship songs that I play but this particular worship song captured my entire being and soul! I can't explain.

source

Our love story is like what you read and watch on tv and books .... a chance meeting and the cupid shot the love arrow into my heart, and I am crazily in love with the worship. I was listening to my new playlist as I worked, and the song came up, I was like; WHATTT??!! I didn't  download that! I allowed it to run it's course since I was busy. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. On my break, I checked it out and it was by an UNKNOWN ARTISTE! I asked Mr Google using the lyrics, and I found him!  I sent it to my friend, because I like sharing wonderful things like this. TAA! Not when it comes to my husband sha, I am verrryy selfish about that! She too liked it very much and said she will send it to her loved ones also. You see how the love is spreading huh? OH! I also made it my ringtone, see why I say I am crazily and wonderfully in love ehen? Why won't I be? A very beautiful song, video, from a beautiful voice and good looking man! I couldn't resist saying that! #wink# I love that white suit! So did my friend! ahaha.

source

It has top my all time favourite love song Olo mi by Tosin Martins. I can dance to  this song anytime and anyday! It happens to be my ringtone for my husband. Well, like romance writers do say, you can love two people the same time .... you can be IN love with one and you can love the other! I seriously don't understand it! All I know is that I love both songs! Each plays a different role to me! One emotionally the other spiritually, and I am satisfied.

HAPPY NEW MONTH EVERYONE!

RANT!

Hello my guys, I am sorry for the late update....I really want to be posting every week, but my body no be wood oo (kai! remove that naughty thought from ya heads!) I now sleep off immediately i get home because I have stopped taking coffee and tylenol, I don't want my body to get used to it....when I wake by 12pm, I eat, bath do some chores and back to sleep by 4pm. Today, I said, I must update! I am watching shoki and laughing as I type, we are talented abeg!

HA! So much has been happening in my place of work o! Abeg, theory is different from practical ....as always! I tried to do all I learnt during my orientation and computer training, but I realized today, that OYO (on your own) was my case! ahaha! A colleague had advised me before to pretend I don't know when issues arise and another said  more duties will be added to my schedule since I work too hard. Of course, I didn't listen because ITK is my middle name and it has been shoved up my a** this week! It hurts, I won't pretend, but I have gotten over it and re-strategized! I have sent my zeal on vacation and dumping all my training into the trash! It is BS!

I now know why people say men managers are better than women managers! I remember my friend and cousin nearly resigned from their jobs because of their female boss. Believe me, some female managers are really a piece of s***! There is one in my place of work that no good word is said about her! Some employees resigned over the years because of her high-handed patronizing attitude ... you know how an arrogant person tries to be humble but it just comes off! I just look at her like a power drunk b****! This type of person like people to be following her like mumu, anyone that divert from that path gets a vindictive reprisal from her. Coworkers said they were surprised at her attitude, that, before she got to that position, she was quiet as a mouse, when luck shined on her and was promoted to that position, she bared her fangs! I believe she never dreamt of getting to that position and when she did.....
source

Nevertheless, my place of work is good, in all fairness, I have to simply learn to follow what others are doing...be seen and be silent. ...OK, it is past 4pm, my bedtime! ADIOS!

YAY! NOLLYWOOD!

MY PEOPLE! We are now trying oo. Nollywood is going places! I couldn't believe the 2 movies I just watched in Netflix is from my father's land! I gave it 5 stars! I doff my 'gele' for the actresses and producers for making me proud! A standing ovation for ROAD TO YESTERDAY and FIFTY! Yep! I am shouting out the titles because I believe in giving dues when it is deserved.
source

I am a passive fan of Nollywood movies, I mostly watched movies produced by Tunde Kelani, Tunde Ogidan and Kunle Afolayan. These 2 movies I just watched were well edited, dialogues tight and the producers captured the beautiful places in Nigeria .... swe-et! {In Panda's voice}. I also like the movies; Mr and Mrs, Irapada, Figurine, ties that bind and few I cannot remember their titles right now. Nse Etim, Dakore, Akindele, Genevieve, Mercy and Omotola are my fav actresses. Epic movies are my all time fav! Anything that has history or traditional background in it, I watch, hence Asian films are on my fav list....hmm...using fav too much qui? #grins#
source
Change is the only constant thing that is dynamic in life and Nollywood is changing for good and I look forward to watching more on Netflix on my days off. Talking of change, I have changed my perspective about some issues in life because of my  experiences and environment. Hence, not advisable to say never to anything.

I still believe in Nigeria for a positive change, which starts from within us as individuals! And it is a gradual process just as Nollywood has done starting from the days of living in bondage to road of yesterday and in the next 50 years Nollywood will be a household name like their international counterparts.

Gracias!

p.s; I can't believe i have been awake since 1.00am...almost 9am now....watching new episodes of Jane the virgin as I update .... funny....and relaxing. Rogelio is my fav character in the show...that guy is something else...as in?!!! AHAHAHA

p.s.s; I chose a small blue laptop few weeks back instead of the big black type I always had, very easy to carry around and I now wear red lipstick to work  .... hubby was surprised because I seldom wear make-up....that is CHANGE! #wink# Adios!

BABY SHOWER WITH 9JA FLAVOUR!

.....So! My dear readers, as I was saying last week, before I digressed to another post, our 9ja people know how to add flavour to any culture they adopt. Baby shower was imported from abroad by our celebrities, which is gradually becoming a norm in certain circles ....no, the average 9ja woman is yet to practice this adopted culture, because she wants to see omo-mo{baby} first before celebrating. But diasporas are not bothered ..... since they are in 'Rome', they want to behave like the 'Romans'... telling the sex of the baby ...which in 9ja is a 'top' secret the mother guides until her EDD. Abi you want make 'them' change am for her belly? Yes o, we are superstitious. And some scan results don't come out right....stories abound!

.....So! I jokingly asked if the party was a baby shower or naming ceremony? Because of the orishirishi; Jollof rice ati fried rice, assorted meat, asun, cake, chin-chin etc. 'Yes, baby shower with 9ja flavour' my hubby replied while laughing, infact that was how I got the title for this post. The few baby showers I have seen here is simple with light refreshments and over within 2 hours, that, with $100-$200, one can have a nice baby shower without going overboard; soda, cake, chips, cookies, candies and small chops. Daz all!

.....As we all know, baby showers here are usually organised by friends or family or colleagues, to help the mother-to-be with baby items and the celebrant don't need to go buying that special dress to wear that day, as I have seen some of our 9ja women do, anything nice in the wardrobe will do, and the celebrant do not spend a dime in the preparation but some of our 9ja women are the ones that spend for it!

.....Em, the question on some if not many Nigerians mind is; Do one still bring baby gift on the naming ceremony day after giving one during the baby shower? I have no answer! Simply use your discretion. What I do is that, whatever amount I have decided to spend, I split it into two and buy the gifts, give one during the baby shower, the other during the naming ceremony. Q.E.D! What I see here is that, after the woman puts to bed, she does baby christening months later inviting people and have a party.

Nevertheless, not all diasporas have baby showers, some prefer to have only the naming ceremony. Personally, I always like to wait to know the sex of my baby after delivery....so, baby shower is not my thing...after I born pickin, come and celebrate with me. Ese o. (Thank you.)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY AMERICA! YE-HAWWW!

TRYING TO KEEP HEADS ABOVE WATER!

I know I had a post planned for this week, but something else came up that needs to be addressed urgently. Listen! Diasporas have complained several times that dollars don't grow on trees, and the streets of America are not paved with gold, but these obviously gets ignored by some people who thinks that, they are the only ones that have expenses or problems or we are lying.

A  man lost his job in Nigeria, his in-law helped him to process his relocation. They vacated a room for him while the kids slept in the parlour. For the 14 months he stayed with them, while working, he did not contribute a nickel to bills or groceries which was causing a grudge in the heart of the in-law. What broke the camel's back was when the in-law kids missed their school bus, they walked back home, and thought 'uncle' would drive them to school, he used the second car while their parents shared the other one, but he didn't because he said, he was nobody's help! This caused a quarrel between him and his in-laws and he moved out. Of course, he would have his own side of the story, but the bottom line is that, he was insensitive to the situation and has this Nigerian entitlement mentality, which is so annoying!

SEE! Diasporas have their own problems to shoulder on regardless if they earn 6 figures or not! The more you earn, the higher your tax and bills,The financial request is not just from one person but many, Imagine sending $100-$200 to 3-5 people from your paycheck....wetin go remain? Funny enough, my co-worker who is of a different race was complaining the same thing! I was like, 'so not only my Africa people? Imagine, lending money to a family friend when in 9ja, before he paid sef, na wahala, he eventually paid only half, and the balance was history! Only for him to call few days ago to say hi, next thing he was talking about a business venture...again as he did back home, then pinged today saying we should not forget him....AS IN SERIOUSLY DUDE? An extended relative has been calling me for the past few days, knowing his precedents since he grew up with us, I ignored! I don't want to start what I cannot finish! HABA! I picked calls of another relative whenever he called, so he called late one day, after I just rocked my baby to sleep, I told him to please call back, that I wanted to sleep. I pinged him when I woke up, he ignored me, that was how he became cold! ARE YOU F****** KIDDING ME BROS? So to avoid history repeating itself, I rather keep to my lane.

Let me tell you guys something, many diasporas don't have savings! Just as people back home live from hand to mouth, so are many diasporas living from paycheck to paycheck. It takes a very prudent person to save a little by depriving oneself of certain things, and I personally find it annoying that if my parents and siblings don't disturb me at all, but are rather concerned about my well being, why will I give my hard earned dollar to distant relatives and friends who were managing their lives before I relocated huh? At the end of the day, some have better assets than us! At the end of the day, it is 'you are not good' when they cannot get what they want from you again! A casual friend of ours, have all his siblings overseas, so nobody asks anyone for anything, rather the demands were from his relatives, when he got tired he blocked them! It is the tax return that many use for projects back home. A diaspora said, his cousin made an off comment that he wished he was the one abroad, he would have done better for the entire family. He then asked him, if he expected him to leave his bills and send him his entire paycheck before he knew he was helping?

As this might sound so harsh, it is simply reacting to pressure! You just have to hear some diasporas rant and people back home will feel sorry and ashamed of themselves! No offense intended, I am just saying it as it is! And some diasporas are not helping issues by living a fake and credit life to impress families and friends at home. Houses here are beautiful, streets and roads well paved, swimming pools and recreational centers are everywhere, so posing in front of any to take pictures does not mean they have money rolling into their bank accounts. Growing big in size does not mean diasporas  have so much to eat that it is outpouring through their kitchen window and door, it is simply because most of the foods are fattening...organic food is more expensive than inorganic. Burger, pizza, chips and soda are cheaper than home-cooked meals. Infact, it is the poor that eat chicken mostly here, so forget all that display of food on social platform. And diasporas look 'frosh' because of the climate. Clothes are bought at great sales! I got a black pant/trouser for $1:00! And I am rocking it well...even some kids clothes for $3:00! When I put these clothes on, some will think it cost much! We do all these so as to be able pay all bills. We are just trying to keep our heads above waters, and some insensitive people are trying to drag us under...which ain't gonna happen to me!

Good morning to y'all...it's past 7am...going back to sleep...my off day. YAY!
