STILL THINKING OF A TITLE ABEG.

I was excited when Netflix started showing Nollywood movies, in April.  We have watched; Lagos cougar, Forgetting June, Broken, October 1, Matters Arising and Lies men tell. I liked the serious editing done to the first 2 movies, I wept over Broken, I gave a standing ovation to October 1, I had a good laugh at the last 2 movies.
I have a problem with the houses used in Lagos cougar and Matters Arising ... the status was exaggerated ... What I mean is that in Lagos cougar, she is a successful real Estate executive, living in splendor from the look of the house, furniture and fittings, but  in the last scene, her bedroom did not compliment the luxurious look!

And in Matters Arising ... COME-ON!!!! The state of that mud house is beyond deplorable! I know, the movie wants to portray a very poor man, but it did not 'gel' with the looks of the poor man. The 'because-I-am-a-good-man's bedroom with the blackened wall and mattress on the floor with 2 ankara wrapper on it, looks like a kitchen that was converted into bedroom for the home video! How can an 'Alajo' not be able to afford a decent one room? A fine man concerned about his looks, who gave his lover #15k, do not eat 3 pieces of meat, unless it is 4, is living in such abject poverty? Please, not convincing to me o.   October 1, got a 5 star rating from me.

HUMPH! It is 12;26am, I and little oga never sleep oo. He is watching his favourite cartoon; Phineas and Ferbs ,.. standing up to unplug my laptop wire, and making sounds with his finger in his mouth ... the guy eyes still they shine kakaraka....see am now, he don come siddon near me sef! SHIOR! He is throwing his crackers on the floor ... excuse me oo ......................................................... ok! I am back! Talking of cartoons, it's being long I watched Tom and Jerry o. Not even their pictures or caricatures on t-shirts for babies ... #yawns# ... I am getting sleepy ,.. but little oga, no send me message o! As I was saying o jare ... gone are the days of simple cartoons that makes people laugh ... now it is all about violence and the supernatural ... I went to my Netflix settings and used the parental control and selected the kind of films I want ... #bigger yawn#

It is not that I don't want to talk about what is going here amongst Nigerians o ... oh my, he is standing too close to the T.V ... please excuse me again ............................... it is because THERE IS NATHING HAPPENING O JARE!     now he is crying ... maybe sleep don dey come? Make I sign out ... can't proof read ... make unah bear my 'missiles' .... ok, goodmorning to you all. ciao!

Hmmm. I have tried to watch nollywood but the crap is too much for me mbok! And make up is a skill they need to wither pay good money for or learn to do it properly. And they all need to attend an acting school. Even Genevieve isn't such a great actor herself. So until they step up their game, its strictly Hollywood for me even tho they like to deceive us which is exactly the point. With naija movies I don't get that cos I'm too busy critisizing to actually enjoy the movie with an open mind

HA! I am like you o... I am always picking faults as I watch ... that I end up not watching it finish or skip to the end. i have come to like Kunle Afolayan movies; Figurine, Irapada and October 1. Tunde Kelani and Tunde Ogidan films are also good. I have heard so much about Phone swap and The meeting ...I will search for it on Netflix this weekend.

Yes, so much need to be done with the makeup and wigs. I know nothing about fashion or make-up, but from my layman's eyes, some costumes and apparel are not convincing. Like in the Matters arising...they are living in abject poverty, as their house portrays, yet she is wearing new anakara for most of the scenes? Where did she get the money from when she is not working and her husband is very stingy to her? They should have made the anakara look well-washed. It is an interesting storyline, but the delivery was not convincing in my opinion...I had a good laugh, though.
Thank you J.

I also watched October 1 with my bf and we both loved it! In fact the boy is now hooked to Nollywood and wants to watch more, and he doesn't believe me when I explain that the quality used to be bad. And yes to Kunle Afoloyan films, I also loved all the ones you listed about. I'm really proud of the progress we're making with Nollywood sha.
